You could also make it really chunky if you wanted to, with the Farfisa, all you can do is scream.1-) Download and install the right version of the product(s) you want HERE PRODUCT NAME | VERSION TO DOWNLOAD ANALOG LAB V v5. The Vox could sound like that, but it also had a little more depth on the bottom. The Farfisa was just, it just really didn’t have any bottom end. If you want to do ballads like “Because” by The Dave Clark 5… that had a mellower organ. The Farfisa was more cheesy and it cut through, but the Vox, it was great if you were doing nothing but like, loud, screaming rock ’n’ roll. That worked until we got sponsored by Vox, and we switched over to the Vox Continental. Then, when the first Farfisa came out, the portable compact organ, we heaved this giant sigh of relief and threw out the small upright we were carrying around, because it was like, really heavy, and just went with the compact Farfisa. So we had an organ with our piano and eventually we started carrying our own piano around, a small upright with the Organo built into it. Then you had this little bar you mounted over the keyboard of a piano that had little pegs coming down, and when you pressed the keys, it activated the pegs on this little strip, and that triggered the organ. We found this thing called a Thomas Organo which was basically several stops of a Thomas organ built into a Vox. Mark Lindsay, the lead singer: "The Farfisa was first, we heard those records (Animals, Dave Clark 5) and there wasn’t a Farfisa organ to be had. Originally Paul Revere played a Farfisa, then the Vox. Anyway, a 'classic' sound for sure, but they weren't really much fun some times to own and maintain. If memory serves me right, Paul Revere and The Raiders might have been one of the first American bands to popularize a Continental. So you weren't always hearing a Vox organ on some of their recordings. What is also interesting is that many of the British keyboard players who used the Continental on TV did not use it it exclusively in the studio. Like a Fender Rhodes, the sound could vary from instrument to instrument, so one emulation may not be the same as another. Very flashy looking and trendy at the time, but that was about all. Basically it was very poorly manufactured, and I was always repairing contacts, losing notes in the middle of songs and it did not like cold weather. I played it in my group at the time for nearly 3 years, but eventually sold it. I believe the price at the time was about $1200, which I was charged, but the dealer ended up losing money because of duty, taxes etc. My claim to fame is that I (via a music store) imported the very first Vox Continental into North America. ![]() To clarify, as far as I know, that was only for PCs, and the Mac version is still 32 bit.
